A mattress is the one thing that won’t fit in a car, can’t be left at the curb, and nobody wants to carry down a staircase on their own. I take it out of the room it’s in, load it, and make sure it reaches a recycler rather than a landfill.
Mattresses are their own category of problem. They’re bulky rather than heavy, they bend in the middle so one person can’t control them, and they usually start life upstairs at the back of a house. Most people put off dealing with one for months, then discover it won’t fit in the car anyway.
You don’t need to get it outside first. Tell me which room it’s in and I’ll carry it down and out — stairs, tight hallways, second-floor apartments with an elevator.
Pricing is by the cubic yard with a $165 minimum on any trip. A mattress takes up considerably more room than its weight suggests, which matters when the price is based on volume. And because every trip carries that minimum either way, it is usually worth sending the box spring, the bed frame and anything else you have been meaning to clear out in the same load.
If there is a separate disposal charge for a mattress where it is going, that goes in the quote before anything is loaded — nothing gets added to the price once I am in the driveway. Distance affects the quote too, which is why I ask for your location along with a list or a couple of photos. Anything going out alongside it that is still usable — a bed frame in good shape, a dresser, a chair — gets separated for donation rather than dumped, the same as any other job.
