Terms of Service

These terms cover junk removal and hauling work carried out by ATS Junk Removal ("ATS", "I", "we") for you, the customer. Booking a job — by phone, by text, by email or through this website — means you accept them. If anything here does not match what we actually agreed when we spoke, what we agreed wins. Tell me and I will put it in writing.

1. Who you are dealing with

ATS Junk Removal is an owner-operated hauling business based in El Dorado County, California, working across El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Amador counties. The person who quotes your job is the person who turns up and does it. You can reach me on (530) 303-7320 by call or text.

2. What the service covers

I collect, load, haul and responsibly dispose of unwanted household, yard and light commercial material. Loads are sorted rather than tipped whole: usable goods go to donation, recyclable material goes to the appropriate facility, and only the genuine remainder goes to a transfer station.

I am a hauling service, not a moving company, a demolition contractor or a hazardous waste handler. If a job needs one of those, I will tell you rather than attempt it.

3. Estimates and pricing

Work is priced by volume — by the cubic yard of space the material takes up in the trailer, not per item. There is a minimum charge of $165 for any job, however small. The trailer holds twelve cubic yards.

To give you a price I need your location and either a list of what needs to go or a few photos. I also give in-person estimates before you commit to anything.

An estimate given from photos or a description is an estimate, not a fixed quote. The final price is confirmed on site, in front of you, before anything is loaded. If the job turns out to be materially different from what was described — significantly more material, hazardous items mixed in, access that changes the work involved — I will give you the revised price first, and you are free to decline at that point at no charge.

Additional charges may apply for exceptionally heavy material such as concrete, soil or roofing, for jobs a long way outside the usual service area, or for access that requires unusual time or equipment. Anything like that is discussed and agreed before work starts, never added afterwards.

4. Booking, access and cancellation

You are responsible for providing safe and lawful access to the items being removed, and for having the authority to let me onto the property. If I arrive and cannot reach the material, or nobody is there to give access, the job may not be able to go ahead that day.

If you need to cancel or move a booking, let me know as early as you reasonably can. I run a one-person schedule, so late changes cost a slot somebody else could have used.

5. What I cannot take

Some material is excluded by law or by the facilities that receive my loads, and I cannot accept it under any circumstances:

• Chemicals, including paint, solvents, pesticides and motor oil
• Gasoline, propane and other flammables
• Asbestos and asbestos-containing material
• Medical and biohazard waste
• Explosives and ammunition
• Sealed or pressurised tanks, and anything holding undrained fuel or oil

If any of this is present, please say so when you book. Finding it on site usually means that part of the load has to be left behind, and it needs a licensed hazardous waste facility instead.

6. Your responsibilities

By booking a job you confirm that you own the items being removed, or are otherwise authorised to dispose of them.

Please check everything before I load it. Once a load leaves, it is sorted and moves on quickly to donation, recycling or disposal, and items generally cannot be recovered. Take out anything you want to keep first, along with valuables, documents and anything holding personal data — phones, hard drives, paperwork. I do not search items for personal information and cannot be responsible for data left on something you asked me to remove.

Please also tell me in advance about anything unusually heavy, anything containing fluids or refrigerant, and anything on the excluded list above. Pets should be secured and children kept clear of the work area and the vehicle while loading is in progress.

7. Ownership of removed items

Once material is loaded, ownership passes to ATS Junk Removal, and it may be donated, recycled, dismantled, sold for scrap value or disposed of as I judge appropriate. Any scrap value recovered from a load does not create a payment obligation to you unless that was agreed in writing beforehand.

8. Property and damage

I take real care in and around your property. That said, carrying large and heavy items through finished interiors carries inherent risk — doorframes, corners, walls, flooring, stair rails and landscaping in particular. If you would rather I did not attempt a particular route, say so and I will find another way or leave that item.

If damage does happen, tell me before I leave the site where that is possible, and otherwise as soon as you notice it, so I can come and look at it while the cause is still clear. ATS Junk Removal carries insurance, and claims are handled through it.

9. Payment

Payment is due on completion of the job unless we have agreed something different in advance. If you are booking on behalf of a business, a property manager or an estate, please tell me at the point of booking so billing can be set up properly.

10. Photographs of work

I sometimes photograph loads and finished jobs, both as a record of the work and to show the kind of jobs I do — including on this website and on social media. Those photos show items, the trailer and the work itself. I do not publish street addresses, and I do not publish photographs of customers or the inside of their homes without asking first.

If you would rather your job was not photographed at all, just tell me — before, during or after. If something of yours is already published and you want it taken down, say so and it comes down.

11. Licensing and insurance

ATS Junk Removal is licensed and insured for the work described here. Proof is available on request — just ask when you book.

12. Limits on liability

I will do the job with reasonable skill and care. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, ATS Junk Removal is not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost income, lost opportunity, or the value of items you asked me to remove and later wanted back. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute that cannot be settled directly will be handled by the state or federal courts serving El Dorado County, California.

If a dispute does come up, please call me first. Most things are fixable in a five-minute conversation.

14. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version always sits on this page, with the date it was last changed shown at the top. The version in force is the one published when you booked your job.
